FAQs

What is the expected lifespan of a bicycle cover?

The lifespan of a bicycle or motorcycle cover depends on, among other things:

  • what material it is made of,
  • Where the bike is placed, for example, if your bike is kept under a tree, it will absorb moss more and become saturated with moisture faster. In direct sunlight, it will become "broken down / brittle" by UV rays. In an open area in windy weather, the risk of it being "torn to pieces" increases.
  • Has it been cleaned/dried? If not, it will mold and "saturate" faster, and thus cannot keep the water out.
  • has it got stuck on something while being applied/removed - e.g. brake levers, pedals, fender struts or anything else that could tear it apart.

It is mainly water, sun and the fact that it has been stuck, which give it an expected lifespan of between 12 - 24 months - but if you take good care of it, it can last up to 5 years. You can read our maintenance tips to your advantage.

Why is water seeping through my cover?

Try to prevent puddles of rainwater on your bike garage as much as possible. After a heavy rain shower, always check for puddles of rainwater and remove them if necessary. Continuous water on the garage can cause water to slowly seep through the bike cover.

Why is there moisture under my cover?

Condensation can occur under a cover - even if the water has not penetrated the material. This can be because your bike is placed on a damp surface, e.g. on a piece of dirt or over a puddle.

Can I use a cover when I park my motorcycle with a hot exhaust?

Both - you need to check if your motorcycle cover is heat resistant, and how heat resistant it is. Not all motorcycle covers are suitable for a hot exhaust. Find a heat resistant motorcycle garage or a heat resistant scooter garage .
