How to Mount Your Bike Garage

CoverHero Guiden

It can be a little tricky to fit your bike garage or bike cover – especially when it is windy or your bike is parked close to other items. Here is a simple method that makes it easier and quicker to pull your bike garage correctly over your bike. The method can be used for regular bikes, e-bikes, 2-wheel cargo bikes, 3-wheel cargo bikes, scooters and motorcycles.

How to pull your bike garage correctly over your bike

Follow this step-by-step guide to achieve the best fit and avoid unnecessary wear on both your bike and cover:

  1. Start at the front wheel/front end
Place the bike garage over the bike's front wheel or front end so that the front of the cover is positioned correctly.
  2. Carefully pull the cover backwards
Gently pull the bike cover backwards over the front fork, front end and handlebars. Take care that the cover does not catch on grips, brake levers, a basket or other equipment.
  3. Pull the cover over the saddle
Continue pulling the bike cover backwards so it sits evenly over the saddle and any luggage rack.
  4. Cover the rear wheel/rear end
Pull the cover all the way down over the rear wheel or rear end so the bike is covered from front to back.
  5. Secure the bike garage correctly
Finish by making sure the cover fits well underneath the front and rear ends. Use straps or elastic to prevent the wind from catching it.

Extra tips for easier fitting

  • Stand on the sheltered side if it is windy.
  • Put your chain lock in place before fitting the cover.
  • Do you have a basket or canopy? Choose a cover with extra height, such as a HeroCape for cargo bikes.

If you have not yet chosen a cover, or are unsure which type is best suited to your bike, start here: Bike covers – which should you choose?

Summary: Start at the front, pull gently backwards, and secure it properly – then your bike garage will fit neatly and securely, even when it is windy.
